Foodtown Contract Update: Local 1262 members employed in Foodtown locations have begun voting on their new contract. To date, members employed by Fresh Grocer and Shakoor and V&V Market Foodtown locations have voted to accept the new contract. Members employed in Food Circus Foodtown locations will be asked to vote on their new contract on Thursday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at the South Wall Banquet Facility, 2605 Atlantic Avenue, Allenwood, NJ. Scholarship Deadline Extended: Due to COVID-19, Local 1262 has extended the deadline for our Scholarship Program applications to Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Members and their dependents who are seniors in high school or freshmen, sophomores or juniors in college can apply.

Covid 19 Extension Date 2021 Short Form Application

Union Plus Free Bachelor’s Degree – As a complement to the  Union Plus Free College program, union members and their families can complete their Bachelor’s Degree online for free thanks to a partnership with Central State University (CSU). Summer semester starts May 24, 2021. Visit https://bachelorsdegree.unionplus.org. The UFCW is now also offering a Free Four-Year College degree program. For details on that UFCW benefit visit www.ufcw.org.

 General Membership Meeting: Due to COVID-19 restrictions our General Membership Meeting on Monday, April 26 will be held via Teleconference at 6:30 p.m.  Members who would like to participate must call Christine Connery no later than Thursday, April 22 at 973-777-3700, extension 1932, between 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please speak clearly and leave your name, phone number, the store and location where you are employed and an email address where we can contact you with the call-in information.

 Grocery Workers Now Eligible for Covid-19 Vaccinations: As previously reported, Local 1262 President Harvey Whille has been working closely with Governor Murphy to obtain COVID-19 vaccines for our members.  Thanks to that effort, grocery workers in New Jersey are now eligible for the vaccine.  Members who wish to receive the vaccine must schedule their own appointments.  To learn more visit www.covid19.nj.gov/vaccine.  NJ Transit has also launched a new program called VAXRIDE which provides information on mass transit options to vaccine locations.
