This is the latest update from President Harvey Whille as of Monday, September 20, 2021 and contains an important message for our ShopRite members (excluding the Albany Region) and our New York and New Jersey Stop & Shop members regarding their contract extension.  You can also listen to this message by calling Local 1262’s Information Hotline at 888-438-1262

Local 1262’s ShopRite members and New York and New Jersey Stop & Shop members voted yesterday (September 19, 2021) to secure their pension funding, lock-in wage increases and maintain their current health and welfare benefits – in full – by extending their contracts another four years until October 2027, for ShopRite and Stop & Shop New Jersey.  For Stop & Shop New York, February 11, 2024, to February 12, 2028.

“Our members did the right thing, at the right time for the right reason,” said President Harvey Whille.  “By voting to extend their current contracts they have locked in an agreement with their employers that is ironclad and will ensure that their pensions are funded and that they have guaranteed wage increases.  Most importantly, their health and welfare benefits will remain the same until 2027 in New Jersey and February 2028 for Stop & Shop New York.  Their benefits will be maintained at the existing level, there will be no increase in co-pays and their employers will continue to fund their monthly premiums 100 percent.  At a time when health care costs continue to increase nationwide, and when more and more employers are requiring their employees to shoulder more of the cost for monthly premiums, this was a major accomplishment for our members and their families.”

Details on the contract extension will be provided to our Shop Rite and New York and New Jersey Stop & Shop members through your Union Representatives.

Please ask your fellow Local 1262 Brothers and Sisters to join Local 1262’s texting program for up-to-date information by texting UPDATES1262 to 83071.
