HAZARD PAY UPDATE

I am proud to report that Local 1262 is one of only a handful of Locals who have taken the step to file a formal Arbitration against your employers to reinstate Hazard Pay.  While this is a bold move, I must tell you that it will likely be a while before we reach an outcome.  The Arbitration Process, which we negotiated in our contracts, is a complex legal process and as such must be approached both carefully and strategically.  We appreciate your understanding and patience as we move forward and encourage you to speak to your Union Representative or Shop Steward if you have any questions.

We also encourage you to join our Text Messaging Program by texting UPDATES1262 to 83071. It is the easiest and quickest way to get updates as they happen.

GOV. MURPHY SIGNS WORKERS COMP LAW TO HELP ESSENTIAL WORKERS

NJ Governor Phil Murphy has signed legislation that will help Front-Line Essential Workers who’s workers compensation claims were rejected because they could not prove they contracted COVID-19 at work. The new law shifts the “burden of proof” from the employee to the employer for essential workers who interact with the general public and who contract COVID-19 during the declared state of emergency.  We applaud Governor Murphy and the New Jersey State Assembly and Senate for their dedication to working people.
